Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)
Imagine achieving high-definition vision quickly, with little risk and no corrective glasses or contacts required. At The Brimhall Eye Center, we can give our patients just that, thanks to Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) surgery, a procedure in which a permanent lens is implanted inside the eye in order to deliver a permanent vision correction solution.
Used to correct moderate to severe myopia, or nearsightedness, Implantable Contact Lens surgery is less risky than LASIK eye surgery, because there is no need to change the shape of the cornea. Instead, ICL aims to enhance the focusing abilities of your eye’s natural lens. ICL surgery has also been shown to work for moderate astigmatism.
Implantable Contact Lens Information
During your ICL procedure, which lasts only about 15 minutes, your Las Vegas eye surgeon will implant a synthetic lens gently inside your eye, where it will function like a traditional contact lens. But ICL surgery negates the daily annoyance of caring for contact lenses, because these lenses won’t be removed unless your vision changes.
When and if you require a new prescription, your eye surgery can replace the implanted lens with a new one, restoring your vision once again.
While ICL is frequently compared to seeing with traditional contact lenses, the result is actually much more dramatic. ICL provides better quality vision than your traditional lenses. Your vision will be clearer, sharper and more vivid than ever before. Additionally, since the contact lens is implanted within the eye, you won’t experience the dryness and irritation that is common with prescription contact lenses.
Many patients who are not eligible for LASIK eye surgery may be eligible for Implantable Contact Lens surgery, so be sure to talk to your Las Vegas eye surgeon about your specific needs.
If you would benefit from permanent, high-definition vision from a minimally invasive procedure, ICL surgery might be for you. Call us today for a consultation and start seeing clearer now.
