Upper Eyelid Surgery Las Vegas

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought that your droopy, sagging or otherwise tired-looking eyelids made you look older or more tired than you are or feel, it may be time to consider upper eyelid surgery. Also known as blepharoplasty, this minor surgical procedure can make you look younger and more rested than ever before.

Sagging eyelids not only make you look older and make it difficult to apply makeup, but many patients also complain that their droopy eyelids actually feel uncomfortable or annoyingly “in the way.” Upper eyelid surgery solves for all of these ailments by removing excess skin and fat from the eyelid to produce a tighter, younger-looking eye.

During your surgery, your surgeon will mark the individual lines and creases of your lid. By using these creases as placement for your incisions, your incision scars will be hidden from view after you have healed and recovered. Once your surgeon makes the incision, he will then remove or reposition excess fat, and then remove any loose muscle and skin.

We use very fine sutures to close your incisions, which helps minimize scarring. And since the incision and sutures were made within the creases of your eye, any scars that result will not be noticeable.

Recovering from Upper Eyelid Surgery

Upper eyelid surgery is a relatively simple procedure, and the recovery is usually very simple too.  Your surgeon will apply small bandages and direct you to apply ointment to keep the area from drying out. While you  may experience some swelling and bruising, you can alleviate any discomfort by using a cold compress, keeping your head elevated and taking prescribed pain medication.

You may be directed to apply eye drops for a week or so following your surgery. A few days after your procedure, we’ll remove your stitches and you’ll be advised to limit or avoid certain activities for a few weeks.
