Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a fairly common cosmetic procedure. As people age, they usually develop some extra skin on the upper or lower eyelids. This is responsible for that “tired look” some people develop as they age, droopy eyes or bags under the eyes. Fortunately, it is quite possible to reverse these side effects of aging and restore a more youthful and vibrant appearance. You’ll won’t be disappointed.
The procedure usually takes one or two hours, and in most cases, local anesthetic is enough. After the surgery, the eyes will appear more rested and vibrant.
The results are subtle but impressive; friends and coworkers will comment on how great you look but are unable to recognize the surgery. Conveniently, the incision for blepharoplasty is tucked away in the natural crease of the eyelid, completely hidden from view.
Though recovery is different for every patient, there is likely be some swelling and bruising around the eyelids for one week, and most people can return to work after five or six days. Eye discomfort after the procedure is fairly minimal. Swelling can be managed and decreased simply by using a household ice pack.
