Some Children Need Glasses To Excel In School
Now that the school season is in full swing, some parents might begin to realize that their child is struggling with schoolwork. There are many reasons why this might happen. One of these isn’t very obvious – your child might need glasses. Brimhall Eye can help Las Vegas parents who are concerned that their child’s eye health might be causing problems in school.
Reason glasses are important
Early in childhood, usually the first five to six years, a child’s visual system continually develops. When there are issues during this time or later during childhood, glasses can help to correct the visual system and improve the child’s ability to see and read clearly. The earlier problems are found and addressed, the better they might be corrected.
Classrooms are large spaces. Children who are near-sighted might have trouble seeing the whiteboard unless they are sitting very close to it. Children who are far-sighted might not be able to see it if they are sitting too close to it. As you can imagine, there are only so many ways that teachers can arrange the classroom, so it might not be possible to accommodate every child’s visual needs.
Examinations and choosing glasses
Your child needs to have a vision exam with an eye doctor who can determine what, if any, vision problems are present. If your child does need glasses, Brimhall Eye has a nice selection of frames that your child can choose from. Working with the child to find frames he or she likes increases the chance that they will actually wear them; however, most children will gladly wear their glasses since they do improve the vision greatly.
